The ONC announced yesterday that it has published its initial list of EHR and EHR module products that will meet the criteria for MU compliance. Known as Version 1.0 CHPL, Certified Health IT Product List, it is a comprehensive listing of complete EHRs and EHR Modules that have been tested and certified under the Temporary Certification Program.
The extensive listing identifies the ONC-Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ATCB), the product vendor, product name, product classification (whole or modular), practice module, software version, and “certification status” (a checklist of those MU-compliant criteria met by the product.)
Say what you will about glacial government but in less than 8 months, the ONC has churned out (among other things) final MU criteria, 3 certification bodies, and ridden herd on MU-Stage 1 commencement. Such atypical swiftness might elicit hand-wringers, and mistakes will be made, but EHR and subsequent HIE are speeding toward fruition.
That’s good for healthcare systems, HIT vendors, and most of all, patients.
