SCHEDULING THE ROUNDS REPORT FOR PRINTING
By Brandon Wiley

In addition to being printed on demand, the Rounds report can also be scheduled through Online Report Scheduling to be printed daily at a specific time by care provider or by nurse station. You can schedule a Rounds report to be run up to six times in a single day. Profile Record PRGPR contains an example of this type of scheduled Rounds report (LCRSnnn).

Note: Because the LCRSnnn entries include INVISION orders information as well as LCR information for the patient, these entries are built to be used on the INVISION CICS.

The Rounds report is scheduled through the Online Reporting function. This scheduling process is very similar to INTERIM report scheduling (which is a prerequisite for Online Reporting). Both functions use the same driving programs.

To schedule the Rounds report, do the following:

  1. Determine which CICS to run the Rounds report on. A Rounds report must be run on the CICS that contains all the programs for and can access all the data specified for the report. (If the Rounds report is to contain only LCR data, you can run the report either on the EAD/LCR CICS or the INVISION CICS. If the Rounds report is to contain any INVISION data (i.e., the report is to include either only INVISION data or both INVISION and LCR data), then you must run the report on the INVISION CICS. For further information, see "On Which CICS Should a Rounds Report Be Run?" in topic 9.2.1.)
  2. From the General Master Menu screen (GEMFUN01), select Report Scheduling.
  3. From the Report Scheduling Main Menu screen (SCMAIN04), select Schedules.
  4. From the Report Scheduling Functions-Schedules screen (SCSCUP01), enter the following information and press ENTER.
    • For Action, enter I (for inquiry).
    • For Schedule Name, enter CHTHRLY.

You should get one of three messages: E5356, E5543, or I5355.
    • If you get message E5356: REQUESTED INFORMATION WAS NOT FOUND, the schedule must be established (scheduled). Change the Action from I to A (indicating that you are adding the schedule) and enter today's date in the Start Date field. Press ENTER twice to add the schedule, accepting all defaults.
    • If you get message E5543: PLEASE ENTER A VALID SCHEDULE NAME, verify that you have entered the correct schedule name. If the name is correct, but you still get this message, contact SMS Technical Support.
    • If you get message I5355: REQUESTED INFORMATION IS DISPLAYED, the schedule has been correctly established (scheduled), and you can proceed to the next step.
  5. From SCSCUP01, select Return to Scheduling to return to SCMAIN04.
  6. From SCMAIN04, select Reports.
  7. From the Report Scheduling Functions-Reports Screen 1 of 4 screen (SCRPUP01), select Report Inquiry.
  8. On the Report Scheduling Functions-Inquiry for Reports screen (SCINRL01), enter the following information and press ENTER.
    • For Report Library, enter CHTHRLY.
    • For Allowable or Scheduled Reports, enter A.
  9. OPSRNDS (Rounds Report) should be displayed on the SCINRL01 screen as an allowable report. If it is not displayed, call Technical Support. If the OPSRNDS is displayed as an allowable report, select OPSRNDS (by marking it with an X) and select Report Updates. This returns you to the SCRPUP01 screen.
  10. From the SCRPUP01 screen, enter the following information and press ENTER.
    • For Action: A
    • For Report Library: CHTHRLY
    • For Report Name: OPSRNDS
    • For Report Sequence: 001
  11. The next screen, the Report Scheduling Functions-Reports Screen 2 of 4 screen (SCRPUF03), displays each hour of the day in military time. For example, 01 represents 1 AM, 12 represents noon, and 23 represents 11 PM. To schedule a Rounds report to be printed at, say, 7:30 AM, enter 30 next to 07 on this screen and press ENTER. Per report sequence number, you may select up to six different hours in which the Rounds report is to be printed.
  12. From the Report Scheduling Functions-Reports Screen 3 of 4 screen (SCRPUS01), value the Options TCL to one of the following and press ENTER:
    • The Care Provider Driver TCL (GESCHD01), which defines the care providers to produce the report. These care providers must be defined in the Care Provider TCL (GERRCP01); the Care Provider Code field (C2372) and the Care Provider relationship to Patient field (C2375) are required; or
    • Nurse Station Driver TCL (GESCHD02), which defines the nurse stations to produce the report. These nurse stations must be defined in the Nurse Station TCL (GERRNS01); the Nurse Station Occupied Beds field (C0303) is required.
  13. From the Report Scheduling Functions-Reports Screen 4 of 4 screen (SCRPUO01), do not select anything; simply press ENTER. (This screen applies only to INTERIM and day-end report scheduling. The output overrides on this screen will have no effect on reports scheduled via online report scheduling.)
  14. The Rounds Report is now scheduled.
If you are scheduling a Rounds report through online scheduling, note the following:
  • The online scheduling function processes the reports to be run during a specific hour at the top of that hour. For example, all reports scheduled to be run between 10:00 and 10:59 are "processed" at 10:00--which means that you must complete the steps to schedule these reports before 10:00. Reports scheduled after the "top of the hour" to be run during that hour will not be run until the next day (at the designated time). This means that if you wait until 10:15 to schedule a report to be run at 10:45, that report won't be run until 10:45 the next day.
  • If the report is produced in duplicate, unschedule the report and then reschedule it (i.e., delete the report and re-add it).
  • All reports scheduled online are generated while running under the CHPPGHST program. This means that all OAS VSAM items used to create a scheduled Rounds report must be enabled to production status.
